How To Make Cleaning A Better Experience For The WHOLE FAMILY

We are constantly getting asked how to get the whole family onboard the cleaning train.  Because as much as you want a clean house, we know that is not always the case for every member of the family.  So we thought we would share 3 of our very favorite ways to get the whole family involved in cleaning.  AND still have a smile on their face at the end.

 20 minute power clean ups

We have talked about this a lot on our Instagram page, but it really is such an effective way to get things done!  When you set the timer for 20 minutes it makes cleaning seem attainable and it gives everyone a specific finish time.  Your teenagers will love knowing that you are only expecting 20 minutes of their precious time.  We have found that when we do a power clean up midday and right before bed our house actually stays a lot cleaner throughout the day.  If you give your family members ownership over the cleaning process then they are much more likely to try to keep your home clean throughout the day.

 Create a positive reward system

Whether your family members are 5 or 55 a little bit of  positive reinforcement goes a long way.  Some examples of positive rewards:  sticker charts, family ice cream date, allowance, getting to stay up late, family movie night, etc…  You know what motivates your family!  Give them a buy-in and you are all sure to have a positive experience.

 Turn the radio on

This may seem pretty obvious, but you guys it's a must!  Cleaning without music is like running without music.  AKA not enjoyable at all.  One of the first things that happens when music enters our brains is the triggering of pleasure centers that release dopamine, a neurotransmitter that makes you feel happy.  Happy people are much better cleaners than unhappy people.  So crank up that music, bust out a few moves and get your home shining!

We hope that these three simple ideas can help you create a more positive cleaning environment within your home.  If you have anything that works well in your home please let us know.  We are always looking for new ways to make cleaning an enjoyable endeavor for everyone involved.  Thank you so much for being here!

Lots of  love,

The Care Cleaning Crew
